Description

Independent living remains out of reach for many individuals with disabilities due to financial limitations, but there are untapped resources that can change this. SNTs combined with strategic use of government benefits, such as SSI, Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), Medicaid, and underutilized poverty programs, can open doors to community-based living. In this session, you will learn from experts how to integrate benefits such as the Military Child Protection Act, ABLE accounts, HUD, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Medicaid Waivers, and utility assistance into planning for low-income individuals. By mastering these tools, you will be equipped to help clients with disabilities achieve independent living outside of nursing homes or congregate care facilities, expanding their options for community life.
