MPI’s John Varga will present a primer on Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, with an emphasis on important topics facing trusts and estates professionals. John will discuss existing and new tax regulations crafted specifically for valuing cryptocurrencies, and how they have approached cryptocurrency valuations in the context of charitable gifting, intrafamily gifting, and estate tax returns. Qualified Appraisal requirements, regulations for pricing cryptocurrencies, blockage discounts, and other topics will be discussed. The presentation will also include a review of the technical workings of cryptocurrencies, to provide participants with conversant knowledge of this constantly evolving asset class.
