Speaker Bio

Jason T. Johns knows firsthand the value that a well-executed estate plan can provide for a grieving family. He was a senior in college when his 45-year-old father passed away unexpectedly, leaving his family and a successful small business behind.

A people-first approach

It is through the lens of this experience that Jason partners with his clients when developing their estate plans. He fundamentally understands that estate plans are about people first and assets second. Only after the core estate plan is in place does he then shift his focus to tax minimization and asset protection.

Client-centered focus

Jason provides estate planning services to a wide range of clients with estates ranging from $500,000 to $80 million. He understands the unique needs that small business owners, executives, doctors and other professionals have in drafting their estate plans. By employing a multitude of sophisticated estate planning techniques, Jason is able to minimize taxable estates and preserve wealth for future generations.

He has the experience necessary to address the diverse needs of his clients, including issues of federal taxation — not just estate and gift tax, but also income tax — real estate transactions, business succession planning and fiduciary litigation.

Real-world solutions for challenging times

Jason recognizes that the uncertainty surrounding the estate tax over the past 10-12 years makes it more difficult to plan. However, his experience enables him to help clients effectively navigate the changing tax laws and regulations to develop a flexible plan that will accommodate the uncertainty.
