Tuesday, October 16, 2018, 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM, ET
Presenter: Pamela Morgan

WHAT WE’LL COVER

Millions of people around the world now own cryptocurrencies, like bitcoin. These decentralized cryptoassets present unique challenges for estate planning attorneys. Often these assets are not issued, controlled, or held by third parties and transfers are instantaneous and irreversible. Attend this session to learn the essentials of holding, controlling, and transferring these assets from Pamela Morgan, attorney and author of Cryptoasset Inheritance Planning. We'll also discuss best practices and common risks, including why you should never hold a copy of your client's access keys or put them in a will or trust document, as well as strategies to mitigate those risks. Finally, we'll discuss building your practice to serve cryptoasset owners.

No experience with cryptoassets is necessary, though a cursory understanding of bitcoin might be helpful.
