Advanced estate planning involves sophisticated strategies to help clients preserve their wealth during their lives and pass it to their intended beneficiaries in the most efficient manner at their death. This “Introduction to Advanced Planning” course provides a foundational overview and is designed for attorneys with a basic knowledge of estate planning and who are ready to up their game (and increase their revenue) by providing more sophisticated options for their clients. We will learn and understand the following:
  • Advanced planning techniques;
  • Family limited partnership planning;
  • IDGTs/BDITs;
  • Asset protection planning;
  • Qualified plan issues/standalone retirement trusts;
  • Irrevocable life insurance trusts;
  • Charitable remainder trusts;
  • Special issues like blended families, providing for minor children issues in living trusts, and other advanced topics;
  • In addition to the legal techniques, this course introduces techniques for communicating fees and presenting the plans to high net worth clients as well as some introductory income tax issues present in advanced planning.
