Date & Time
Tuesday, September 24, 2024, 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Description

A letter of intent is a way of communicating your desires and concerns, as well as caregiving instructions to future caregivers, guardians, trustees and advocates of dependents with special needs. Although not a legally binding document, it will allow future caregivers to more quickly learn how to deliver the very best care possible.

This workshop will discuss how a letter of intent can be used as part of the special needs planning process. We will cover the concept of person-centered integrated planning and creating a comprehensive life care plan to include vision, financial resources, legal instruments, and communication. We will dive into what a letter of intent is, examples of items to be included in the letter of intent and how it should be used.

Every person has different desires, and everyone has different wishes for their loved one with special needs. The letter of intent is an important component of communicating vision and needs for the individual with disabilities to other family members and future caregivers.
