Description

How do you plan for large estates? Many of the same fundamental concerns are relevant to both large and modest estates. This session explores the presenter’s suggested best practice techniques—such as avoiding staggered distribution trusts and using discretionary trusts rather than health, education, maintenance, and support trusts—and the legal-practical reasoning behind them. The presenter will also address dynasty trusts, GRATs, completed gift hybrid DAPTs, and other techniques.

Learning objectives:

  • How to design a trust for maximum creditor and divorce protection
  • How to leverage dynasty trusts and GRATs to save estate taxes
  • How to integrate a completed gift hybrid DAPT into the plan
