Durnell Maier Law, LLC is a caring and knowledgeable elder law practice that is dedicated to assisting seniors and their families with the many legal challenges they face, including paying for the care they need and protecting their beneficiaries. The firm was founded by Elizabeth Durnell-Maier, who is a Certified Elder Law Attorney through the National Elder Law Foundation and Ohio Bar Association.

Over the past fifteen years of working in elder law, Liz has assisted hundreds of families qualifying for government benefits they didn’t realize were available to them, along with preserving a portion of their assets at the same time. She has also helped hundreds in setting up the proper documentation to ensure that their loved ones didn’t have the hassle, publicity, or expense of probate.

After seeing so many worst-case scenarios over the years of clients facing probate and losing their assets, Liz has led countless seminars educating Ohioans on the importance of having a proper plan in place. She is passionate about teaching clients how to avoid all of them, creating the best-case scenarios for their future instead.

Liz belongs to the Ohio NAELA chapter as the Vice President, the Ohio State Bar Association and is the Chair of the Elder and Special Needs Law Section, the Shelby County Bar Association, and the Sidney Kiwanis Club. Liz is also the Chair of the Disability Foundation Board of Directors in Dayton, Ohio, a member of the Board of Directors of New Choices Domestic Violence Shelter and a Trustee on the Board of Trustees for the Community Foundation of Shelby County. She is a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Newport, where she also serves as a Lector.
