ESOPs - Strategies to Sell to Your Employees


ESOPs are qualified retirement plans which provide employees an ownership interest in the selling company. There are nearly 7,000 ESOPs in the United States and more than 14.2 million participants are currently employed or covered by an ESOP. The federal government has put many regulations in place which must be strictly adhered to in order to successfully establish and maintain an ESOP. This workshop is designed to provide an analysis of the creation of an ESOP allowing advisors to guide their clients who are looking to leave a lasting legacy with their employees and community.

Objectives:

  • Understanding ESOPs and their structure
  • Review of IRS Code § 1042
  • Overview of the design & implementation of the ESOP and Trust
