Steve Riley first practiced law as a trial attorney. He balanced trial work while running a very successful practice. From experience, he understands the challenges faced by small and solo law firm practitioners, he has walked miles in their shoes. After 10 years of litigation and more than 100 cases tried, he transitioned into estate planning and elder law. He quickly built a large, thriving practice.
Word travels fast. Steve became the go-to advisor for lawyers looking to grow their practices. It wasn't long before advising lawyers turned into a passion. Steve made the decision to pursue his passion for helping lawyers grow their practices and sold his practice. He joined the nation's premier law practice management consulting firm, Atticus. Michele lives at the intersection of her career and her family, which offers an explanation regarding her passion for her clients. She is also a dynamic speaker who has presented at national legal conferences.
She is the founder of the Michigan Law Center, PLLC; president of Advocacy, Inc., a non-profit organization; and founder of Extraordinary Administration Services, LLC. Michele’s focus during her more than 20 years of practice has been on elder law issues, settlement planning, and special needs planning. She has intimate knowledge in that last area. Michele is the mother of four, one of whom has special needs.
She has become a nationally recognized expert on special needs planning. An author or co-author of four books relating to special needs and elder planning, Michele is currently working on a fifth book pertaining to special needs trust administration in Michigan. She has published many articles on the subject and made countless speaking appearances across the country.
Michele was chosen as top special needs advocate by Parenting magazine in 2013, named as one of the top elder law attorneys in the US by the American Institute of Legal Counsel 2016- 2019; and honored in Lawyer Monthly’s annual women in the law issue.
She was named Super Lawyer in 2018 and was the recipient of the State Bar of Michigan’s Unsung Hero award, given annual to an attorney who has exhibited the highest standards of practice and commitment for the benefit of others.
Michele has also held many leadership positions during her career, including: long-term council member and former Chair of the State Bar of Michigan Elder Law and Disability Rights Section; Advisory Committee of the Academy of Special Needs Planners (ASNP) and also having served as Chair of their national conference; and on the board of directors for the Michigan chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA).
