| 3:30 PM - 4:30 PM | Supported Decision-Making Agreements in Alabama Since Alabama passed The Colby Act in 2023, many practitioners are unaware that they have alternatives to guardianships and conservatorships. This CLE course examines this law which established supported decision-making (SDM) agreements as a statutory, less-restrictive alternative to guardianship and conservatorship for adults with cognitive, intellectual, developmental, or psychiatric disabilities. Participants will learn the Act's requirements, supporter duties and limitations, interaction with guardianship proceedings, along with practical drafting guidance.
