Course Objectives: To educate estate planning attorneys regarding asset protection and Medicaid in North Carolina. This program will use scenarios to help estate planning attorneys recognize pitfalls and red flags in the planning process. The discussion will include determining countable assets, potential tools for asset protection, spend-down, and the potential for Medicaid estate recovery.

Planning with LLCs for Vacation & Rental Properties

Course Objectives: A review of various strategies for owning rental and vacation properties to mitigate risk and minimize personal liability, including insurance, LLCs and trusts. Will also include discussion of specific issues related to short term rentals and the Vacation Rental Act.
