Sterling Miller has enjoyed a wide and varied 30-year legal career.  He is a three-time General Counsel, having served in that role at Marketo, Inc., Sabre Corporation, and Travelocity.com.  He has managed international teams handling a myriad of complex legal issues including “bet-the-company” litigation, M&A, government affairs, data privacy, and commercial agreements. In April 2014, he led the legal team responsible for the successful IPO of Sabre Corporation.  In January 2019, after leading the legal team that completed the sale of Marketo, Inc. to Adobe Inc., he returned to the Dallas office of Hilgers Graben PLLC as Senior Counsel.    

Sterling earned his law degree from Washington University in St. Louis (Order of the Coif, law review) and his bachelor’s degree from Nebraska Wesleyan University, where he was Student Body President among other honors. He is certified in data privacy by the IAPP (CIPP/US).  He is a frequent speaker at legal industry and bar events and consults with legal departments around the globe.  Sterling serves on the Board of Directors of Terrasoul Superfoods and the advisory board of Travefy.com.  He publishes a widely-read legal blog entitled “Ten Things You Need to Know as In-House Counsel” and contributes regularly to Thomson Reuter’s publications.  Sterling recently finished recording a two-part teaching module on artificial intelligence and litigation for Baylor Law School.  He has published four books: “The Evolution of Professional Football,” “The Slow Cooker Savant,” and two books for the American Bar Association focusing on legal issues important to in-house lawyers.  The second book, “Ten (More) Things You Need to Know as In-House Counsel: More Practical Advice and Successful Strategies Volume 2” was released by the ABA on November 4, 2019.
